BE A HART PARAMEDIC (HAZARDOUS AREA RESPONSE TEAM)
The Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) was set up in 2011, with teams throughout the country to provide ambulance response to major incidents involving hazardous materials, or which present hazardous environments resulting from an accident or deliberate cause.
HART paramedics are specifically trained and equipped to work in hazardous areas where traditionally it would be unsafe for ambulance staff to work. HART is deployed to events such as chemical incidents, widespread flooding, complex road traffic accidents and patients injured or ill in hazardous environments such as at height or restricted areas.
These are some of the essential criteria you will need to be successful as a Paramedic; more detailed criteria are available in the Person Specification for the role:
- HCPC Registered Paramedic, with demonstrable clinical experience in the operational pre-hospital (ambulance) setting.
- Full UK driving licence (including C1)
- IHCD (or equivalent) Emergency Driving qualification (D1, D2)
- High standards of clinical care
- Evidence of working in a multi-agency environment
- Ability to work in enclosed spaces, at height and other difficult areas, and be able to swim
- Ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.

What is the package?
- Salary: Band 6 (plus Unsocial Hours (USH) in line with Section 2 of Agenda for Change)
- Hours: Full time: 37.5 hours per week (part-time hours may be available on completion of training).
- Location: Winchester & Eastleigh, Hampshire
- Annual leave: Minimum 27 days plus statutory public holidays, pro rata for part-time staff
- Shift pattern: Rota covering 24 hours, 7 days a week – shift patterns vary by area.
