The directorate has overall responsibility for the recruitment, training and development of staff, understanding and implementing employment legislation and welfare. HR also has oversight of staff retention of programmes and provides workforce planning and analysis.
Furthermore it provides support to the business during restructures and change programmes and to managers in the implementation of policies, performance management, as well as sickness and absence management.

Basic standard education (3 GSCE) or equivalent is usually required. For more senior roles in human resources you will need a professional qualification that is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
